Visit to Orphanage Hostel

By Mr. Lham Tsering Tejo

Our study tour started from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University at 9:20 AM and we reached there (in Orphanage Hostel) around 10:15 AM. As soon as we reached the Hostel, Mrs. gave a short presentation on the daily activities of the Hostel. Through the presentation I came to know that there are 69 boys which are divided into 4 groups and in each group consist of 20 boys. It was surprising to know that this hostel depends on self reliance and rely on the sustainable development which is the policy of the present king of Thailand.

This hostel has their own way of earning or income. It is said that they have their own chicken farming where they get 150 eggs from the chicken each day. Even nearby neighbors come to buy eggs from this hostel. They also have their own mushroom farming where they produce 75 Kg and sold to the other shops. It is said that even they hire duck for laying eggs and duck eggs has more income than other chicken’s egg. They had their own fish farming but due to flooding situation they lost their fishes. This hostel also focuses on raring goat for the production of milk. This hostel is also very keen in producing vegetables. Through all this activities they earn 100,000 baht per year. Through collecting irons and papers they earn 10,000 baht per year. This hostel also focuses on teaching the hostel boys on self-reliance and learns to live with harmony in society. This hostel also focuses on the improvement of the physical or mental strength and also encourages to do volunteer work. The students of this hostel as also represented to promote love and safe sex. Later we had some video presentation to the children and question section where student of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University asked several questions.

Visit to Floating market.
After the orphanage hostel we visited to floating market to see how people are engaged in business which results to the growth of the economy of the country. There we can find the creativity of the Thai people. They have lots of capability to make something through which they could earn money. This brings out one’s own inner potential to face the difficulties of the life.
Lastly I thank Ajran Montra, Ajran Duangdee and Ajran Montra’s parents for making this trip more successful.
